Acrylick Clothing

Posted in: Fashion

acrylickI just came across this great independent clothing label on MySpace called Acrylick Clothing. Acrylick, based in Los Angeles, is all about creating fashion that contains positive messages and is meant for people who actively want to express their own original style and spirit.

A lot of companies make clothes with this kind of approach, but leave their customers wondering what the heck is the real meaning behind the designs. Well, Acrylick briefly explains each of their designs in detail so you know what’s up with each piece. If you’re interested in picking up your own piece of Acrylick, go to DigitalGravel.com.

Streetwise

Posted in: Music, Art, Fashion

streetwiseBuzz-building company Streetwise Concepts & Culture has a dope MySpace profile and rightfully so. Streetwise is a network of 70,000 young adults that various companies tap into when they want to hype up upcoming product launches like a new movie or video game. For example, members can pick from various teams to participate in that currently include Dave Matthews Band, Talladgea Nights, and the Nokia Unwired campaign. Upon signing up to a team, members receive free music, tshirts, DVDs, video games, and lots more to help spread the word among their peers.

It’s pretty obvious that having a strong MySpace presence is an absolute must for recruiting more members and spreading the word about existing campaigns. Their roster of 70,000 members dwarfs their MySpace friend list of 3,800+, which is kind of ironic, but I’m sure MySpace peeps will be all over this in no time.

Kabouterje Bags

Posted in: Fashion

karbouterjebagsHere’s one for the ladies. I happened upon this very talented seamstress on MySpace named Nycole who makes her own handbags under the label Kabouterje Bags. Nycole’s handbags are made from vintage articles of clothing like dashikis, dress shirts and cotton prints. Many items feature simple yet fun accents like buttons, floral prints, and of course are all one-of-a-kind pieces so you won’t have to worry about anyone else having one.

The easiest way to buy Nycole’s creations is through her Etsy page where she has seven items up for purchase that are all under $25. It’s always nice to see people on MySpace putting their talents to use and making them available for others to enjoy.

Get Hairapy

Posted in: Misc, Guys, Fashion

gethairapyguys

Got hairproblems? Get Hairapy. Kinda like the foursome Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Hairapy is three gay guys (Ethan, Robbie, and Micah) on MySpace that offer advice on everything from hair to life. But in reality, it’s a clever promotional MySpace profile created by the consumer products company Unilever that’s designed to subtely promote their Sunsilk hair products.

The profile has a very active forum going, with lots of insightful advice on hair from your fellow MySpace members and the Hairapy gay guys. There are also some downloadable AIM icons and wallpapers. Overall I’d have to say it’s a well-executed MySpace profile and the design seamlessly blends with the gethairapy.com website.

Electric Tees

Posted in: Misc, Fashion

gotgasWe here at SpaceCadetz aim to be as “politically neutral” as possible, but if something political in nature strikes us as unique and post-worthy, so be it. Liberals all across America will love this tshirt company called Electric Tees. They design a number of shirts that cover all kinds of political fare ranging from the war in Iraq to funny George Bushisms. Be sure to add them to your friends because each month they do a tshirt giveaway to a randomly selected MySpace friend on their list. Check out the rest of their designs at ElectricTees.com.

Most Official Bitches

Posted in: Girls, Fashion

mostofficialbitches

Girly girls need not apply for this one. The M.O.B. aka Most Official Bitches is a 2-year old streetwear label that caters to the much neglected female segment of the market. However, M.O.B. is much more than an emerging clothing company. The real story is in M.O.B.’s foundation - a collective of 11 native New Yorker females, each of whom have a different background, but are united in their vision of a true New York lifestyle that encompasses everything from fashion to music to attitude. How do you become privy to what these trendsetting ladies are up to? Simple, just tune in to the M.O.B. blog that is updated freqently by the girls. I’m a guy so I can’t speak to the content, but it seems 100% more legit than the crap in many of those so-called women’s magazines out there.

For the spring/summer season, M.O.B. teamed up with the Wu Tang Clan and streetwear brand Alife to create a dope tshirt and tank top collaboration. It’s still available so ladies don’t sleep on this one. Many of their other pieces are long gone. Those bikinis in the picture above are an even doper collaboration with graf artists KAWS, and sold out before they were even released.
