SpaceCadetz.com In the News!!

Posted in: Misc, Announcements

I’m still reeling from all of this. The interview SpaceCadetz did with Al Cabino yesterday made some pretty major waves in the blogosphere. Check out this quick blurb from BusinessWeek Online in the Blogspotting section for starters. Then hop on over to advertising/marketing industry heavyweight blog Adrants who also did a feature on the interview. WhatsNextBlog.com, a blog run by highly-regarded internet and outernet strategist B.L. Ochman (take a look at her resume!!) picked up on the Adrants post and had some encouraging things to say as well.

All that press coverage was really super and SpaceCadetz would like to say thanks to everyone who took an interest in the interview and the blog. But to top it all off, Kevin Smith, who was featured last week, took the time to make a blog entry about SpaceCadetz on his MySpace page!!

The Ryan King Charity

Posted in: Misc, Guys, Announcements

Famous on MySpace for his blog-hosted ‘Caption This Image’ contests that draw hundreds if not thousands of viewers and commenters, The Ryan King has decided to use his MySpace star power for the good of humankind! He read about some chick who suggested that everyone send her $1 so she could tape it up on the wall and take a picture with it, and thought he could do better. So, Ryan has suggested partnering up with a reputable charity in the LA area to help fight homelessness, and he is trying to see who would be down to chip in some cash. If this sounds like something you are down for, then hit up Ryan at his blog or via a message and let him know!

#1 Top Internet Celebrity

Posted in: Girls, Announcements

Here’s some food for thought and even more proof that MySpace is taking over the internet. MySpace personality Tila Tequila just announced that she has been named the #1 Internet Celebrity by Fortune Magazine. Really, we all know it and I’m sure Tila herself knows it that the #1 spot would be all but a dream if it weren’t for the steroid-pumped super networking machine that is MySpace. But, you still gotta have the hustle, so props to Tila for working hard and using MySpace to achieve her goals. Congrats!!

Gym Class Heroes Exclusive Interview

Posted in: Music, Announcements

Just a quick heads up to check out a great video interview of indie hip-hop group Gym Class Heroes over at Barbershop Hip Hop’s MySpace profile. It’s video #3 and runs about 15 minutes long. Unfortunately only half the band is there to be interviewed, but Travis and Matt still do a great job of telling people what they’ve been up to lately including their crazy trip to Japan. Also, keep an eye out for these guys on the Vans Warped Tour this summer in a city near you.

2nd Annual Brooklyn HipHop Festival

Posted in: Music, Announcements

brooklynThere’s nothing better than live hip-hop performances, especially if they’re free. Yup, free. It doesn’t happen too often, but when it does you can bet heads will be all over it. If you happen to live in the New York area, you are in luck because Brooklyn Bodega is currently putting together the 2nd Annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival on Saturday, June 24th. Last year talent included Little Brother and Brand Nubian to name a few of the heavyweights so you know this is definately for real. As far as the lineup goes this year, hip hop legend Big Daddy Kane and newcomer Lupe Fiasco are on the hook and no one knows who else Brooklyn Bodgea has up their sleeve. If you are interested in going, all you have to do is register on BrooklynBodgea.com. Stay tuned for more details.

The MySpace Business Model

Posted in: Misc, Announcements

We all know that MySpace rules the world as the largest online community with over 70+ million members. MySpace has grown organically since the very beginning and the power of networking couldn’t be more apparent. Well the rest of corporate america is finally trying to catch up. Forbes Magazine writer Allison Fass wrote an excellent article on companies like Coke, Carnival Cruise Lines, and Nissan are trying their hand at social networks as a marketing tool. For the most part the communities seem to be working and users find the ability to connect in a communal environment helpful. Yup, MySpace rules.

Daunte’s L_ephunk Party

Posted in: Music, Announcements

MySpace member Daunte is a part of the creative collective Elsewhere Studios that I blogged about recently. His contributions to the group are many, and include work as a DJ, photographer, “videographer,” and “DOPEographer.” Basically, that means this cat is super talented in multiple media formats. If you take a look at the Elsewhere Studios website, you can find Duante listed as Kevin aka “NoMSG.” There you can take a peek at his accomplishments that include work for Social Distortion, House of Blues, and cd cover design for all the Elsewhere Studios releases.

Kevin is also a resident DJ for all L_ephunk parties and wants everyone to be aware of the L_ephunk 5 Year Anniversary Party going down in May. On May 6th, DJ Diabetic who you may know as Shepard Fairey of Obey Giant fame will be spinning and on May 11th Slum Village will show up for a special performance. If you’re in the Southern California area this event should definately be on your hit list.

Coachella Tshirt

Posted in: Music, Announcements, Art

coachellatshirtIn my rush to share Plasticgod’s amazing artwork with you all, I forgot to mention that he also designed one of this year’s Coachella tshirts. The design is done in his trademark lego head style and I am loving the spiked hair and contrasting black and white color scheme of the face. The festival is going down this weekend so keep you eyes peeled for it! Unfortunately I can’t make it, but look forward to posting any coverage that you MySpace members might have.
