Atmosphere has finally released the music video for his single “Say Hey There” off his most recent album. Check it out.

What happens if you are a guy, but paint like a girl? I wouldn’t go so far as to say that he paints “like a girl,” but the artist known as Rosedoll doesn’t seem to have any problems getting recognition for his unique mix of Japanese anime and street-inspired art. Most of his work features cute anime-style characters juxtaposed with harder images like 40oz bottles and various “pharmaceuticals” if you know what I mean. It makes for an interesting look, and if you like Rosedoll’s work you’ll be happy to know that most of it is for sale at very affordable prices. Painted 40oz bottles range from $20-$40 and paintings from $150-$500.
SpaceCadetz just found out that the indie film Murderball has a MySpace account. If you don’t remember, Murderball came out in July of last year and is a film about quadriplegics who play full-contact rugby in Mad Max-style wheelchairs, and more importantly how they transcend stereotypes and physical limitations. Eventhough the film is already on DVD, the work and awareness that was started by the movie haven’t stopped there. “Get Into the Game” is a charitable campaign that was inspired by Murderball and lets people like you and me help raise money for wheelchairs for athletes in need. Through the campaign, you can order your own free Murderball DVD, check out their tips for a successful screening, and download discussion materials and flyers to create your very own Murderball screening in your community to raise money. It only takes $215 to provide a wheelchair for a deserving athlete.
For once, a group that lives up to its name. The Beat Assassins, as you can guess by that opening statement, is literally killing it as they craft a truly unique blend of hip-hop beats and rock guitar melodies that is being called “Ghetto Rock-n-Roll.” You might be thinking that the Beat Assassins sound is like Linkin Park or Limp Bizkit, but this is really something else entirely. I wish I could describe it well enough, but since I can’t I’ll just have to implore you to visit the Beat Assassins MySpace profile page where you can listen to four tracks for yourself. If you like what you hear, then show BA some support by buying their EP album ‘Far Away From Home’ which is only $8.99 at CD Baby.
The buzz that underground hip-hop/rap mix CDs generate these days is unreal, as the mixtape is essential for any artist or group trying to keep their name hot on the streets between album releases. The only problem is that these prized mixtapes are indeed “underground” in that they are not released through traditional music distribution channels. Here to address that need is a record shop called Kingz Records. Kingz carries a dizzying array of mix CDs (over 300) from everyone including DJ Vlad, Dirty Harry, DJ Quik, and tons of other artists and DJs that you haven’t heard of - yet. They also have a good selection of vinyl, clothing, and DVDs. Get year ears tuned to the streets and visit KingzRecords.com.
There is simply no denying that skateboarding continues to reach new heights with every year that passes. The problem is that with so much growth it can be hard to find reputable shops for skate gear and clothing. If you’ve been looking for a shop with great selection (brands include DVS, DC, Circa, iPath, Globe, Lakai, etc.) free shipping, free returns, and a 115% price guarantee, the SkateShoesX.com is definately worth checking out. The shop doesn’t sponsor skaters yet, but plans are in the process to and should materialize by this summer. If you’re interested, check out their MySpace blog for additional details on how to apply when the time comes.

More stupid antics from your fellow MySpace members. This is what happens when you put an explosive into a melon, and then smash it with a bat. Pure comedy.

I have to give props to the guy behind Wax Revolver. Not only is his downtempo hip-hop music super top notch, but he really seems to stand behind what he believes in. In his blog entries, you learn how he got in a lot of trouble as a youth and eventually started DJ’ing as a way to escape. He now fimly believes that hip-hop saved his life and he doesn’t know what he would be doing if it wasn’t.

Wax Revolver also only samples from vinyl, no mp3s or CDs. He doesn’t see anything wrong with it per se, but just likes to stick with what he feels works best. Maybe it’s the analog musical sources that add that certain something to his muisc, I don’t know. All I know is that Wax Revolver is firing out some seriously good tunes. Watch out DJ Shadow.
