Juggalos

Posted in: Video

Does anyone in here know what a Juggalos is? I had no idea, but apparently it’s the name for this group of kids that paint their faces like demonic clowns, and most are big fans of the Insane Clown Posse. Check out this Las Vegas news bit on the Juggalo phenomenon. Interesting stuff….

Daunte’s L_ephunk Party

Posted in: Music, Announcements

MySpace member Daunte is a part of the creative collective Elsewhere Studios that I blogged about recently. His contributions to the group are many, and include work as a DJ, photographer, “videographer,” and “DOPEographer.” Basically, that means this cat is super talented in multiple media formats. If you take a look at the Elsewhere Studios website, you can find Duante listed as Kevin aka “NoMSG.” There you can take a peek at his accomplishments that include work for Social Distortion, House of Blues, and cd cover design for all the Elsewhere Studios releases.

Kevin is also a resident DJ for all L_ephunk parties and wants everyone to be aware of the L_ephunk 5 Year Anniversary Party going down in May. On May 6th, DJ Diabetic who you may know as Shepard Fairey of Obey Giant fame will be spinning and on May 11th Slum Village will show up for a special performance. If you’re in the Southern California area this event should definately be on your hit list.

Coachella Tshirt

Posted in: Music, Announcements, Art

coachellatshirtIn my rush to share Plasticgod’s amazing artwork with you all, I forgot to mention that he also designed one of this year’s Coachella tshirts. The design is done in his trademark lego head style and I am loving the spiked hair and contrasting black and white color scheme of the face. The festival is going down this weekend so keep you eyes peeled for it! Unfortunately I can’t make it, but look forward to posting any coverage that you MySpace members might have.

Farmer Vincent Fritters

Posted in: Misc, Guys

vincentDamn, this guy’s blog is pure comedy. His name is Farmer Vincent and he seems to be a regular fixture in the Top Blogs section of MySpace and his latest blogs are a must-read. One of them is about how he works with this mentally ill guy named Jason. When Vincent turns his back to Jason, Jason will either 1) run away, 2) punch Vincent in the back of the head, or 3) start masturbating while staring intently at Vincent’s ass. Yeah, the story continues with Vincent taking Jason to a strip club. Read the rest for yourself. 20 bucks says that you’ll subscribe to his blogs.

Def Jux Digital Download Service

Posted in: Music, Announcements

defjux

In the cliched words of Paris Hilton, this is “hot.” Well it certainly will be anyway. According to El-P’s most recent MySpace blog, his leading indie hip-hop label Definitive Jux is putting the finishing touches on a digital download service that will function in a similar fashion to iTunes. In addition to the basic download service, users will be able to download large art files and view Def Jux artists’ music videos as well. Immediately available through the service, which is dubbed “The Pharmacy,” will be new tracks by Cage, Aesop Rock, Rob Sonic, Hangar 18, and others. Man…. cutting edge shit. Gotta love it.

Art of Mr. Hahn - Linkin Park

Posted in: Art

8bitThere’s apparently no limit to the talents of Mr. Joe Hahn, the DJ member of Linkin Park. Joe’s fellow band member Mike Shioda of current Fort Minor fame, has just blogged about an art show called “I Am 8-Bit” that features art inspired by video games of the 80s, including a piece by Mr. Hahn himself. The show is currently going on now at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles until May 19th and features art by other artists as well like Greg “Craola” Simkins and Dez Einswell.

Ghettosavant

Posted in: Music

ghettosavantIs it hip-hop, is it rock, is it soul? I can’t seem to figure what to call Ghettosavant’s music and that’s probably because it does such a good job of blending all those genres together. And don’t worry, this isn’t some new take on Limp Bizkit, the rock element is more reminiscent of Purple Rain-era Prince. Nyaze Vincent is the extremely talented individual behind Ghettosavant and he’s also the co-founder of indie label Underrock Records. Peep the talent for yourself.

Swaggaville

Posted in: Music

metroIs “swagga” the next “crunk”? I guess only time will tell who or what if anything can dethrone Lil John in mainstream rap, but up-and-comin rap artist Metropolitan seems to have something to say. He’s pushing a mentality and lifestyle called “Swaggaville,” a place where people know how to swagga along with the right attitude. Metro is currently hot on the mixtape circuit with 36,000 units sold of his “100% Swagga” release. There are four tracks off that album, be sure to check out his flow over legendary Nas beats.

Just a Little Short

Props to the BMX rider who attempted this crazy jump. He gets pulled by a van and then launches off this huge wooden ramp in an attempt to land on the roof of this apartment building. See the results for yourself.
